Travis Perkins Rugby Event for Charity
I was approached by Travis Perkins’ PR company to cover their charity rugby event in December 2016 called The Cement Mixer Challenge. I was asked to cover the Durham branch and Bishop Auckland branch. Team Members from the Durham City RUFC were invited down to the Durham branch of Travis Perkins and customers of the branch to try their hand at the cement mixer challenge. The challenge was basically to throw a rugby ball into the cement mixer and Travis Perkins would donate £5 to the rugby club to help them raise money for a new defibrillator for the clubhouse. The public winner won £200 worth of Tesco vouchers and crowned the title of Durham’s Ultimate Cement Mixer Champion.
Along at the Bishop Auckland branch of Travis Perkins the branch invited members of the Bishop Auckland RUFC and customers of the branch to have a go at the challenge. They gave £1 to the club for every successfully throw into the cement mixer in which they donated £217 to the club. An unnamed customer also won £200 worth of Tesco vouchers.
